Gene recently co-starred with 4 time Tony Nominee Tovah Feldshuh on Broadway in the Outer Circle Critics nominated "IRENA'S VOW", as the Leader of the Jewish underground, Lazar Haller. Written by Dan Gordon (writer ,Oscar winner, "The Hurricane', "Murder in the First "Passenger 57", "Wyatt Earp")

Packed houses and standing ovations were the norm at one of the largest and most prestigious Broadway house's, the Walter Kerr theatre, (home of Tony winners' "Doubt", "Proof", "Angels in America"
"A little night music" etc.),

This was after an incredible sold out off-Broadway run, lauded by critics, and visited by dignitaries from around the world, Gene was honored to be in the only performance of a play ever done for the United Nations,. (Irena's vow was asked to be performed fot the general assembly of the United Nations, the only such performance of a show ever done there) "IRENA'S VOW" is a true never before told story of a young polish girl, Irena Gut Opdyke, who saved the lives of 13 Jews in the basement of a Nazi majors house,
during the holocaust.

A show that profoundly moved people and in many cases, changed their lives. Below are a few quotes. More can be found out about the show at it's website: http://irenasvow.com/

popular episodes "DR-1-102", one of 3 shows submitted that season for an Emmy award.

"A Standout" "Mr. Silvers performance, both naive and cynical, in a tough character to play,
his best moments are very, very good." - The New York Times

"It's Gene Silvers as Willie who's the most important character and the play's emotional center, Silvers vividly brings him to life, intelligently charting his journey from animal like captivity, to a sense of renewed, if not fully repaired humanity. Silvers finds every bit of anger, helplesness, and desperation-stated and unspoken- that Gordon has devised, almost always succeeding at making willie a person rather than a symbol." - Talkin Broadway . com

"Hilarious, unsettling, superb... Silvers shines as Austin, the ivy league educated screenwriter, particularly in the second act, as the sensitive, righteous brother, who out of utter frustration and a sense of betrayal, falls from grace. As Austin, Silvers convincingly morphs into a vuilent, twisted version of the character's former mild-mannered self. The interplay between silvers and youngs, who each turn in the physically demanding performances, is nothing short of incredible."
- The Cape Cod Times

"Sam Shepard's Serio-Comic portrait of two brothers locked in a never ending battle of words and deeds is painted with bravado by two wonderful talents, Gene Silvers and Robert Wells Young who glory in the scope and depth of the playwright's characters. They are startling during moments raw emotion and physicality." - The Cape Coder

True West starring Gene Silvers was nominated as 'Best Play Of The Season' by Cape Cod Life
